When I was just 13 years old my hilarious, talented Uncle Pete took his life. The tole that this took on me was completely unexpected and lasted quite a long time - which is ok. It is okay for it to take a while.

I’m 20 now, and I am still found shedding the occasional tear on birthdays and christmas. But it's not so sad anymore, because I have something in his name to be so, so proud of.

The work that my family, our friends and our dragons have carried out for so many people when they need it most really makes me cry with joy - not something I ever thought I could do again, if you asked me 6 years ago

Enough with the soppy stuff though, I’ll tell you what I’m here for...

I have been a volunteer for various charities through my teens and have had the BEST experiences with my friends. I got to do amazing things and got given brilliant opportunities like represent volunteers nationally at conferences and meetings, as well as learn skills I still use now. With time I want to be able to give all out Dragons such amazing opportunities, because they deserve it.

I am now a PD trustee, and I head up the volunteers. My aim is to have the best support system and environment for our volunteers so that they thrive, not only with us, but in their own lives.

Whatever your skills are, your personality is and your quirks are, there will always be space for a dragon like you.
