Dragon Olly and Dragon Sasha recently took part in a Radio Show which helped to promote the work of Balloons.

Extracted from the Balloons Newsletter, July 2011

On 5th May, four young people from the Balloons Youth Forum went on local radio. They were invited by John Stammers and Emily McCarthy of Phonic FM to work in the studio and run the show. Phonic FM is a Community RadioStation based in Exeter.

Sasha and Oliver Haithwaite and Amy and Gareth Gill did an amazing job, and the programme was enjoyed by many people living in Exeter, Mid and East Devon!Balloons Exeter

They discussed Balloons, music, school, Dr Who and much more!

The show was excellent.

Emily from Phonic said, ‘John and I had a really good time with Sasha, Olli, Amy and Gareth. Thank you all very much; it was a really good fun and enjoyable show. We look forward to the next one!’

Many thanks to Emily and John for hosting the show, and to Sasha, Gareth, Amy and Oliver for such a brilliant job!

A note from Sasha:

My brother and I thought the radio show was very fun, and John let us play with the buttons too! We would like to say thank you to everyone who organised it and joined it to make it so fun! Our favourite part was when we were allowed to introduce our own music, but we think it was an overall great experience.

Thank you (:

Where your money will be spent.

Balloons is planning to provide exciting opportunities for children and young people who have been bereaved to get together for social and creative activities. This will give them the chance to find mutual support from others in the same position, who understand the difficulties of dealing with grief and loss. The children and young people who have received a balloons service over the last few months will be contributing ideas for developing the Youth Group (aged 8 to 11) and the Youth Forum (aged 12 to 16), considering whether they would like regular groups and what kinds of social activities would appeal to them.'
